Welcome to Capsule Customs Travel

We are two avid travelers with full-time jobs that don’t deter us from exploring every opportunity we get. Our travel style is somewhere in the middle, navigating the space between budget and luxury. We prefer accommodations through Airbnb to immerse ourselves in local life. Occasionally, when the situation calls for it, we opt for hotel stays.

We tend to keep our food budget low, prioritizing funds for activities and off-the-beaten-path adventures. We shop at local grocery stores for breakfast items, pack sandwiches for lunch, and grab snacks for the road. For dinner, we typically seek out a dive establishment or any place that serves a good burger—bonus points if it comes with an egg on top.

Our commitment to mindful travel is evident in our sustainable practices – reusable water bottles, quality gear, environmental friendliness, and a ‘leave no trace’ ethos. We travel light, favoring a one-bag carry-on with compression cubes, unless the journey requires specialized equipment.

This blog serves a dual purpose – a practical guide offering information we wished we had before our trips and a personal travel journal capturing the wonders and magic we encounter. I aim to provide you with enough information to plan your own trip without spoiling the special moments you’ll create.

So, why ‘Capsule Customs Travel’? As a devoted Dragon Ball Z fan, the name pays homage to the series, encapsulating our trips and delivering a small piece of our adventures. ‘Customs’ reflects our interest in learning about local cultures and traditions, and it nods to passing through customs when we return home.

Our goal is to live like locals wherever we go, turning every place we stay into a temporary home.
